Growth assessment program pitched

Tami Vater, Economic Development and Tourism Commission Director, presented the Community and Economic Development Initiatives of Kentucky Community Assessment (CEDIK), a program from the University of Kentucky and the Kentucky Association of Economic Development to Pendleton County Fiscal Court during its regular meeting last Tuesday. She explained that for $7,000, the county could bring CEDIK in to assess the community for what is needed to be ready for growth.

During the assessment, CEDIK would pull data in part by being part of the community, meaning something akin to a “secret shopper” plan where those who are gathering data would come into the community to be active in it. That activity would lead to input on possible economic development.

The court recalled a similar study done in 2002 where no one acted on it, and the magistrates agreed if this was done, they needed to study and act on the data that is collected.
