Farmers Feast

Celebration showcases local talents, produce

The location for this year’s Pendleton County Farmers’ Market annual Farmers’ Feast will be…

Sorry, that’s still a secret.

All that’s been revealed so far is that evening will begin with hors d’oeuvres at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 17, and will be include a variety of beverages provided by Rose Hill Farm Winery.

Seating for the meal will begin at 6:15 p.m. in preparation for the salad and main course service. The meal this year is prepared by Cross Creek Catering in Falmouth and some of the market members.

Local dessert favorites prepared by market member businesses that specialize in the craft.

Entertainment will be provided by T. Lipscomb, a singer-songwriter from Northern Kentucky, who has fronted The Kentucky Struts as well as released several solo projects.

No tickets will be sold at the door — or the fence, barn, pasture, woods or wherever the dining experience might be that year.

“It’s always a little bit of a mystery of where’s it going to be,” said Sara Pettit, who brought the elegant fundraiser for the Farmers’ Market to Pendleton County in 2015.

Since then, the only year the farm-to-table dining experience wasn’t held was in 2020, because of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’ve had people say it’s THE event of the year,” Pettit said. “The food that is served is grown by local farmers,” she said. “We use a local chef, and the servers are local. We try to utilize local talent.”

“I take great pride in making sure when people come to this event, they know they are being hosted,” Pettit said.

It’s not foam plates, plastic tablecloths and paper napkins.
