By Nila Harris Jacob Sanning always wanted to attend a university out of state but never dreamed he would be admitted to an Ivy League school with a low acceptance rate. But his teachers and parents encouraged him to apply to Columbia University in New York City.

The Pendleton County Ladycats Golf team put together a fine showing on their home course on August 5 at the Crosstown Shoot-out. Senior Reese Barlow continued her strong play as she birdied six times on her way to a round of 78 to take first place in individual play.

By: Sam McClanahan   The Pendleton County Ladycats Golf trio of Reese Barlow, Katie Wright, and Taylor Bruener are off to solid start to the 2023 season. The girls took part in three events recently beginning with play at the Winchester Country Club.

Wildcats host the Pendleton County Invitational

By: Sam McClanahan   The Pendleton County Wildcats Golf team hosted 14 other schools for this year's Pendleton County Invitational held at Pendleton Hills on July 24. The turnout would be the largest number of participants in several years according to Wildcats head coach Clay Monroe.

All 3 and 4-year-old children who are Pendleton County residents are eligible for a preschool screening for the 2023-2024 school year.    The next screenings are scheduled for July 26, 2023 at Northern Elementary School and July 27, 2023 at Southern Elementary School.

School and sports physicals to be offered at Sharp Middle School

Three Rivers, Butler Lions Club, Jason Gregg and other health organizations will be at Sharp Middle School Saturday, July 15, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Inaugural Pendleton County School Health Fair. Three Rivers will offer school immunizations and fluoride and varnish treatments.

Pendleton County Cross Country practice and sign-ups for the new fall season will be held on July 15 at Sharp Middle School in Butler at 7 a.m. All students, boys and girls entering grades 6 through 12 are invited to attend.
